Development of High-Throughput Single-Cell DNA Methylation Clock Profiling
Different parts of our bodies age at different rates, but we currently lack the tools to see this at the cellular level. Dr. Wu's project addresses this by developing a powerful new method to measure the biological age of thousands of individual cells simultaneously. This technology will create the first "aging clocks" for specific cell types within complex tissues, such as neurons or immune cells. Dr. Wu's team will use these high-precision clocks to identify which cells age fastest during normal aging and in models of diseases like progeria. Furthermore, this high-throughput method will enable screening for factors that can modulate aging, helping to identify interventions that may rejuvenate our bodies at a cellular level.
