Board Member in the News: Nir Barzilai receives ISPEN Longevity Prize

On November 18, 2018, AFAR Deputy Scientific Director, Nir Barzilai, M.D., received the 2018 Fondation IPSEN Longevity Prize during the Annual Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America.

Now in its 22nd year, this prize is awarded to an international researcher—a biologist, geneticist, gerontologist, psychologist, demographer, or statistician--in recognition of an outstanding contribution in the field of longevity.

Notably, several other AFAR experts have received this esteemed award in the recent past, including Scientific Director Emeritus George M. Martin in 2002, 1990 AFAR Research Grant awardee Judith Campisi Ph.D. in 2010, and Scientific Director Steven N. Austad, Ph.D. in 2015.

Congratulations Dr. Barzilai!

Nir Barzilai, M.D., is the Director of the Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging, the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging, and the Institute for Aging Research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
