On November 17, 2021, AFAR Scientific Director Nir Barzilai, MD, Board Member Richard G. A. Faragher, PhD, and President James Kirkland, MD, PhD, presented during the one-day masterclass “Investing in the Age of Longevity 2021” in London. The program was part of UK Longevity Week, spearheaded by AFAR board member Jim Mellon.

In a morning session providing a foundation in the biology of aging and geroscience, Dr. Kirkland presented on senolytics and gerotherapeutics. Dr. Faragher presented on the intersection of the biology of aging and age-related disease and the promising impact of targeting both.

In an afternoon session focused on future momentum and translation into biotech opportunities, Dr. Barzilai presented on the AFAR-managed TAME Trial. Dr. Faragher summarizedthe insights from cross-sector, global leaders from a series of GeroFutures Think Tanks hosted by AFAR throughout 2021, including recommendations for investments in aging research today in order to encourage opportunities in biotech development and international collaboration.
