On January 27th, 2025, The Wall Street Journal published an article featuring AFAR Board Member Richard G.A. Faragher, PhD, exploring the debate on whether aging should be classified as a disease.
Dr. Faragher provided insights into the considerations of labeling aging as a disease, emphasizing the potential this perspective could have in developing therapeutics to treat or delay age-related diseases and extend healthspan.
In addition to being an AFAR Board Member, Dr. Faragher is past Chair of both the British Society for Research on Ageing and the International Association of Biomedical Gerontology and is a Professor of Biogerontology at the University of Brighton.
