On August 1, 2023, the CNN podcast Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta featured AFAR Scientific Director Nir Barzilai, MD. Dr. Barzilai shared insights on interventions aimed at extending healthspan including lifestyle and gerotherapeutics.

In the episode ‘Biohacking...or BS?’, Dr. Barzilai explains the science behind how dietary timing, sleep, exercise, and social activity can impact how the body ages. He also explains the promise of gerotherapeutics to help us live healthier, longer by targeting the biology of aging—the subject of the TAME Trial, which AFAR has been working to fund and launch.

In addition to his role at AFAR, Dr. Nir Barzilai is the Director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research, and the Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging. He is the Ingeborg and Ira Leon Rennert Chair of Aging Research, professor in the Departments of Medicine and Genetics, and member of the Diabetes Research Center and of the Divisions of Endocrinology & Diabetes and Geriatrics.
