On November 23rd, 2024, Business Insider published a feature on AFAR SuperAgers Family Study participant Sally Froelich. The article also featured insights from AFAR Grantees Rose-Anne Kenny, MD, and Nathan LeBrasseur, PhD, MS.
Ms. Froelich, a 95-year-old SuperAger, shared her reasoning for joining this study and the habits she credits for her own longevity. She emphasizes the importance of social interaction and friendship, “The most important part is sociability. Friends are so very important. You need someone that you can confide in, there's always somebody out there that'll listen to you."
Dr. Kenny and Dr. LeBrasseur shared insights on the impact exercise and social connectivity can have on biological aging.
The SuperAgers Family Study, led by AFAR in collaboration with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Boston University School of Medicine, aims to collect data from a large group of individuals who have lived to age 95 or more. The Study's goal is to understand and uncover the biological factors contributing to healthy aging and exceptional longevity shared among SuperAgers and their families.
