AFAR Experts in the News: Nir Barzilai, MD, and Jamie Justice, PhD, speak at Forbes Healthcare Summit Panel

On December 4th, 2025, AFAR-affiliated experts Nir Barzilai, MD, and Jamie Justice, PhD, spoke at the 2025 Forbes Healthcare Summit in New York City. They shared insights in a panel, “The Secrets to Longevity: Giving Patients Longer, Healthier Lives,” which explored new technologies designed to extend healthspan, as well as lifespan.

Dr. Barzilai and Dr. Justice were joined by Francisco LePort, PhD, Cofounder & CEO of Gordian Biotechnology, and moderator Maggie McGrath, Forbes Senior Editor.

In addition to serving on AFAR’s Board of Directors, Dr. Barzilai is the 2010 recipient of the Irving S. Wright Award of Distinction, a 1997 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging scholar, and a 1994 AFAR Research Grant recipient, as well as Co-Investigator of the AFAR SuperAgers Family Study and the AFAR FAST Initiative. He also directs the Institute for Aging Research at the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is the President of the Academy of Health and Lifespan Research.

Dr. Justice is a 2016 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Postdoctoral Fellowships in Aging Research recipient and the 2022 recipient of the Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research. She is the Executive Vice President of the Health Domain at XPRIZE Foundation, and an Adjunct Professor in the Internal Medicine Section on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM).
