Grantees in the News: Chia-An Yen and Sean Curran co-author new research identifying specific genetic contributors associated with age-related muscle loss in eLife

On April 26, 2022, eLife published new research co-authored by AFAR grantees Sean Curran, PhD, and Chia-An Yen, PhD, identifying specific genetic contributors associated with age-related muscle loss, an increased risk of falls, and sarcopenia.

Dr. Curran is also a 2009 Diana Jacob Kalman/AFAR Scholarships for Research in the Biology of Aging recipient and a 2013 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient. He is also an Associate Professor of Gerontology, Molecular and Computational Biology, and the Associate Dean of Research at the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Yen is a 2017 Glenn/AFAR Scholarships for Research in the Biology of Aging recipient, and a R&D Scientist at the Genetic Sciences Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Read the research, “Genetic variation in ALDH4A1 is associated with muscle health over the lifespan and across species,” here.
