On July 28, 2022, the Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association published new research co-authored by AFAR grantee S. Duke Han, PhD, finding that a loss of smell over time predicts loss of cognitive function, and can foretell structural changes in regions of the brain important in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease also published new research co-authored Dr. Han on June 13, 2022, connecting financial generosity and the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and identifying these individuals as those most vulnerable to financial exploitation.
Dr. Han is a 2012 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging recipient. He is also an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
