On March 17, 2022, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association, published new research co-authored by AFAR grantee Kristine Yaffe, MD, that finds a correlation between older adults who nap longer and more frequently with lower cognition and a higher risk of Alzheimer’s dementia.
Dr. Yaffe is a 2001 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging Scholar recipient. She is a Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology and Epidemiology, as well as the Vice-Chair of Research in Psychiatry at the Roy and Marie Scola Endowed Chair at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Yaffe also serves as one of four Principal Investigators for the National Institute on Aging (NIA) Clin-STAR Coordinating Center, which AFAR manages.
