AFAR Grantees in the News: Mark Lachs, MD, MPH, and Catherine Sarkisian, MD, MSHS, on “‘Failure to Thrive,’ or a Failure to Investigate?” in The New York Times

On May 13th, 2024, The New York Times featured AFAR Beeson Scholars Mark Lachs, MD, MPH, and Catherine Sarkisian, MD, MSHS, in an article on the need for further research into aging-related declines in health. Dr. Lachs and Dr. Sarkisian shared their insights on how advances in geriatrics and research could lead the so-called ‘Failure to Thrive’ diagnosis to become obsolete.

Dr. Lachs is an AFAR Board Member, and former Board President, a 1995 Beeson Scholar, and the 2017 Irving S. Wright Award of Distinction recipient.

Dr. Sarkisian is a 2004 The Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging recipient.
