AFAR Grantee in the News: New research co-authored by Alexander Bick, MD, PhD, on the link between inflammation-causing age-related changes in blood cells the increased risk of pericarditis in JAMA Cardiology

On March 18th, 2026, JAMA Cardiology published new research co-authored by AFAR Grantee Alexander Bick, MD, PhD, on the link between CHIP, or aging-related changes in blood cells that cause inflammation, and the increased risk of pericarditis.

Dr. Bick is a 2023 Hevolution/AFAR New Investigator Awards in Aging Biology and Geroscience Research recipient.
