AFAR Grantee in the News: New Research by Derek Huffman, PhD, on the effect topical gerotheraputic VAS101 on healthspan of mice in Geroscience

On March 15th, 2025, GeroScience published new research co-authored by AFAR grantee and Albert Einstein College of Medicine Nathan Shock Center Co-Director Derek Huffman, PhD, on the effect topical gerotheraputic VAS101 had on the healthspan of mice.

In a related Vascarta Inc. press release Dr. Huffman shares, "We observed that a short intervention with transdermal VAS101 resulted in a number of favorable effects on health in mice. This included improved aspects of health span such as exercise capacity and reduced frailty. Based upon these data, VAS101 may have potential to be a safe and effective therapeutic to treat aging."

Dr. Huffman is a 2015 AFAR Research Grant for Junior Faculty recipient.
