AFAR Experts in the News: New research on neuroinflammation by Carlos Manlio Díaz-García, PhD, Sreemathi Logan, PhD, and Arlan Richardson, PhD, in Aging and Disease

On September 19th, 2025, Aging and Disease published research co-authored by AFAR Grantees Carlos Manlio Díaz-García, PhD, Sreemathi Logan, PhD, and AFAR George M. Martin Award winner Arlan Richardson, PhD, on how neuronal necroptosis can trigger inflammation and memory decline even without cell death.

Dr. Díaz-García is a 2022 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient.

Dr. Logan is a 2023 Hevolution/AFAR New Investigator Awards in Aging Biology and Geroscience Research recipient.

Dr. Richardson is AFAR’s 2025 recipient of the George M. Martin Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award. He also previously served as the director of the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center for Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging and now serves as the Chair of its Internal Advisory Committee.
