Spatiotemporally scalable recording of single-cell gene expression histories across aging brain

The right genes have to be expressed in the right place at the right time to drive many fundamental brain functions. In the aging brain, the spatiotemporal patterns of gene expression drift over time and are associated with declines in brain functions. In order to study and analyze these spatiotemporal changes in the aging brain, one would need a technology to measure these processes in a spatiotemporally resolved manner. To address this need, in this project Dr. Changyang Linghu and his team are developing a technology for recording gene expression changes in the aging mammalian brain in a spatiotemporally resolved manner and applying the technology to analyze brain aging-associated gene expression drift in living mouse models.
