Industry News: AFAR Grantees and Board Member Honored at 2014 AGS Conference View MoreBACK

From May 15-17, 2014 the American Geriatric Society will hold its annual awards, celebrating researchers, clinicians, educators, and trainees who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the care of older adults.  This year the awards will be held in Orlando, FL.

AFAR is thrilled to announce that five our grantees are among the awardees! 

The honorees include:

XinQi Dong, MD, MPH, an Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine at Rush Medical College and a 2008 Beeson Scholar, will be receiving the award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation.

2013 MSTAR Scholars and medical students Julie Thai of Michigan State University and Lucille Brunker of the University of Utah are being honored with Clinical Student Research Awards.

Danelle Cayea, MD, MS, a Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine Scholar and an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University, is receiving the Outstanding Junior Clinical Teacher of the Year Award.

Erika Manu, MD, the 2014 winner of the Outstanding Junior Clinical Education Manuscript Award, is an instructor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Michigan and a Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine Scholar.

Additionally, AFAR board member and John A. Hartford Foundation Executive Director and Treasurer, Corinne Rieder, EdD will be recognized at the event.

AFAR would like to congratulate all the winners and we look forward to attending this annual event in Florida.
