On May 15, 2019, MedicalExpress featured insights from AFAR experts Kenneth Langa, MD, PhD and Donovan T. Maust, MD in article highlighting findings from the recently published National Poll on Healthy Aging Report: Thinking About Brain Health, which Dr. Maust organized.

In all, nearly half of respondents to the National Poll on Healthy Aging felt they were likely to develop dementia as they aged, and nearly as many worried about this prospect. In reality, research suggests that less than 20 percent of people who have reached age 65 will go on to lose cognitive ability from Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia or other conditions.

Dr. Langa is a 2003 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging scholar.

Dr. Maust is a 2014 Beeson scholar.
