On February 4, 2018, JAMA Neurology published research authored by AFAR expert Reisa Sperling, MD, which revealed that men had fewer of tau and beta-amyloid protein deposits linked to Alzheimer’s in their brains than women. The study utilizes an innovative brain scanning technique that Dr. Sperling developed thanks to early support from AFAR.
