On July 14th the Journal of Physiology published new research from 2012 AFAR Research Grant recipient Micah Drummond, PhD.
Dr. Drummond’s research examined the age-related differences caused by periods of bed rest. His team found that, unlike younger adults, older adults experience decreased in leg lean muscle mass and strength as a result of bed rest. However, the research also shows that most of the loss can be recovered through the employment of rehabilitation techniques.
