Grantee in the News: Jeremy Walston, MD advances research on gel to treat older patients' skin wounds.
On November 1, 2017, Science Daily reported on research co-authored by 1998 Beeson Scholar Jeremy D. Walston, MD on a gel with potential to heal often untreatable skin wounds common to diabetics and older patients.
Dr. Walston co-authored the findings, published originally in the October 16 issue of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
Through this research, the team seeks approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to use the gel application in treatment-resistant skin wounds among diabetics and others, particularly older adults.
