On January 25, 2018, ScienceDaily featured 2011 New Investigator in Alzheimer’s Disease Awardee Dr. Einor Ben Assayag in an article about how working before and after a stroke can benefit brain health.

In the article, “Working before and after stroke is good for brain health” Dr. Einor Ben Assayag states:

"Studies have shown stroke greatly increases dementia risk, and occupational status might influence how stroke survivors fare years after having a stroke."

Later in the article, Dr. Ben Assayag states the importance of working on cognitive health.

"The message here is 'keep on working.’ Rates of death and cognitive decline were higher among the unemployed people we studied. In fact, being unemployed was by itself a risk factor for cognitive decline and death."
