Grantee in the News: Duke Han's Research on Financial Literacy and White Matter published in NeuroImage
The February issue of Neurolmage published, new research from 2012 Beeson Scholar Duke Han, PhD, on the associated between financial literacy and white matter integrity.
Previously, Dr. Han’s team found that financial literacy is associated with greater functional connectivity between brain regions in old age. In his new research, Dr. Han looked at financial literacy’s connection to white matter, tissue related to how the brain learns and functions, adjusting for cognitive function. The results suggested that financial literacy is positively associated with white matter integrity in old age.
Duke Han, PhD, is a diplomat of the American Board of Professional Psychology in clinical neuropsychology and an associate professor of behavioral sciences at the Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center.
Dr. Han’s research into the associated between financial literacy and cognitive decline was featured in Medical Director, Richard Besdine, MD’s Huffington Post column, “Elder Financial Exploitation: A Crime AND a Serious Health Risk.”
