Grantee in the News: Catherine DuBeau on Causes and Treatments of Incontinence
On Monday, July 13th,1991 AFAR Research Grant Recipient Dr. Catherine DuBeau was featured in a number of Canadian publications for her expertise on the causes of and treatments for urinary incontinence.
In the article, Dr. DuBeau explained how pregnancy, childbirth, aging, and decreased estrogen production, can weaken muscular and connective tissue and lead to urinary incontinence – a condition which disproportionally effects women. Dr. DuBeau also emphasized the importance of discussing this issue more publicly;for, in most cases there are variety of treatment options available.
