Experts in the News: Nir Barzilai and Lynne Cox scientific advances to extend healthspan in The Guardian View MoreBACK

On December 21, 2019, The Guardian featured insights from AFAR experts Nir Barzilai, MD, and Lynne Cox, PhD, on scientific advances to slow aging and extend healthspan. Dr. Barzilai discusses the potential impact of the TAME Trial to provide proof-of-concept that the biology of aging can be targeted with drugs like metformin and others. Dr. Cox provides her expertise on cellular senescence and senolytic drugs.

Dr. Barzilai is AFAR’s Deputy Scientific Director, a 1994 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient, a 1997 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging scholar, a 2010 Irving S. Wright Award winner, and the  Director at the Institute for Aging Research and distinguished Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Cox is a 2014 Glenn/AFAR Scholarships for Research in the Biology of Aging recipient, as well as an Associate Professor in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford.
