On January 5, 2020,  Newt’s World podcast featured AFAR experts Nir Barzilai, MD, and David Sinclair, PhD, AO. In the podcast hosted by retired politician Newt Gingrich, the AFAR experts discussed how advances geroscience are leading to therapeutic interventions to extend healthspan, and the cultural shift and multi-sector support needed to move aging research from the labs into our lives. The longevity dividend of healthcare savings by extending healthspan, as well as insights learned from “superager” centenarians also are discussed.

Dr. Barzilai is AFAR’s Deputy Scientific Director, a 1994 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient, a 1997 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging scholar, a 2010 Irving S. Wright Award winner, and the  Director at the Institute for Aging Research and distinguished Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Sinclair is an AFAR board member, 2000 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient, and 2018 Irving S. Wright Award recipient. He is also a Professor in the Department of Genetics and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging at Harvard Medical School.
