AFAR mourns the passing of Chad Dickey, PhD
Chad Dickey, PhD, Associate Professor at the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute at the University of South Florida, Tampa, passed away last Friday, November 25, after a short illness. In 2007, Chad received the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation/AFAR New Investigator Award in Alzheimer’s Disease, followed by a Collaborative Research Award in Alzheimer's Disease with Ehud Cohen, Ph.D.
Every year Chad attended the New Investigator Meetings in Santa Barbara, CA as a grantee, and was an enthusiastic participant and contributor. He also strongly believed in paying back by mentoring the incoming grantees and serving on AFAR committees as well as serving on the board of the Florida AFAR affiliate. In 2016, Chad assumed the role of chair on the New Investigator Award in Alzheimer's Disease Selection Committee, on which he served as a member since 2015.
“AFAR is proud to have supported Chad’s early research and is grateful for his important contributions that advanced our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease,” notes AFAR Executive Director Stephanie Lederman. “We will especially miss the curiosity and collegiality that he brought to our annual scientific meetings.”
