AFAR in the News: IAGG World Congress multi-media spotlights AFAR experts

As a co-host of the 21st International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) World Congress, AFAR is pleased to share multi-media highlights featuring AFAR experts, including special video content from IAGG TV, as well as slides from various presentations, such as the AFAR-sponsored morning plenary session on targeting aging.

First, footage of the World Congress Opening Ceremony is available, featuring Board Member Mark Collins accepting an award on behalf of Paul Glenn, founder of AFAR’s long-time collaborator, the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research.

In a special IAGG TV channel, former AFAR Board President and incoming President of IAGG Jack Rowe, MD discussed the excitement of the World Congress and what lies ahead for IAGG. In another segment, 1993 AFAR Research Grant recipient and the Director of the Division of Aging Biology at the National Institute on Aging, Felipe Sierra, PhD describes the emerging field of Geroscience and why the relationship between aging and age-related diseases are key to finding new ways to prevent, slow, and cure diseases. IAGG TV also features Board member and Vice President of Medical Strategy at Pfizer, Pol Vandenbroucke, MD on why Pfizer decided to take on addressing age-related issues.
