AFAR in the News: AFAR Experts in TIME’s “The Longevity Issue”
TIME Magazine’s February 22, 2016 edition, entitled “The Longevity Issue,” features six AFAR affiliated experts, including our executive director, Stephanie Lederman. Our experts lend insights in several articles on the health, financial, and social issues associated with increased longevity.
In “Alzheimer’s From A New Angle,” 1995 Beeson Scholar Frank Longo, MD, PhD and two-time grant recipient, Brian Kennedy, PhD discuss innovative new approaches researchers are taking towards this devastating disease.
“It’s the Little Things,” includes 1998 AFAR Research Grant Recipient and 2013 Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research recipient, Valter Longo, PhD’s research on calorie restriction in its discussion on research-backed lifestyle changes that encourage healthy aging
“Burning Question #5: Can a Diabetes drug cure aging?” focuses on the TAME (Taming Aging with Metformin), trial including insight from AFAR Deputy Scientific Director and TAME trial leader investigator, Nir Barzilai, MD, as well as Board Member S. Jay Olshansky, PhD.
