In Memoriam: AFAR Board Member Thomas G. Kahn, CFA
![In Memoriam: AFAR Board Member Thomas G. Kahn, CFA]()
AFAR mourns the passing of Thomas G. Kahn, CFA, who served on our Board of Directors for 13 years since 2013 and actively participated in the Audit, Finance, and Investment Committees.
In honor of his father, he established the Irving Kahn Fund Endowment that supported AFAR’s Grants for Junior Faculty. He also participated in our Super Agers Initiative.
Mr. Kahn founded the value investment firm Kahn Brothers & Co, now Kahn Brothers Group, in the traditions of Benjamin Graham, who was a teacher and mentor to his late father and Thomas Graham's namesake. Tom later contributed to Graham's fourth edition of his renowned book, The Intelligent Investor.
He served on several boards, including publicly traded companies and non-profit organizations. He was an active philanthropist, with a dedication to the Ackerman Institute for the Family, the Lighthouse Guild, the Jewish Braille Institute, the Men's Club at Temple Emanu-El, and AFAR.
AFAR is grateful for the zeal and generosity that Mr. Kahn shared for so many years.
