On November 11, 2021, Inside Science featured insights from AFAR grantees Vera Gorbunova, PhD, and Daniel Promislow, PhD, discussing new research that connects the DNA of 88 rockfish species with extended lifespan, which may be manipulated to increase and repair genes through intervention.
The article also features a related perspective article on the research co-authored by Dr. Gorbunova.
Dr. Gorbunova is a 2005 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient, as well as a Doris Johns Cherry Professor and Co-Director of the Rochester Aging Research Center the University of Rochester.
Dr. Promislow is a 1998 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and AFAR Grants for Junior Faculty recipient and a 2010 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Breakthroughs in Gerontology (BIG) Award recipient.
