On June 21, 2021, The New York Times featured insights by AFAR grantee Thomas Perls, MD, MPH, discussing new research that explores the role genetics plays in preventing Alzheimer’s Disease in “Super-Ager” Centenarians, while also noting ways to build resilience against cognitive decline according to the latest breakthroughs in aging research.
Dr. Perls is a 1998 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Awardrecipient. He is the Founder and Director of the New England Centenarian Study and a Professor of Medicine at Boston University’s School of Medicine.
