Grantee in the News: Thomas Perls on why older adults in long term care are more vulnerable to COVID-19 in The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society

On June 5, 2020, The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society published an editorial co-authored by AFAR expert Thomas T. Perls, MD, MPH, AGSF, highlighting why long term care facilities are more vulnerable to high COVID-19 morality rates and continue to surge despite the total decline, and what factors need to be considered in future policy.

Dr. Perls is a 1998 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award recipient. He is the Founder and Director of the New England Centenarian Study and a Professor of Medicine at Boston University’s School of Medicine.
