Grantee in the News: Nature Biotechnology highlights Tome Biosciences, co-founded by 2023 Hevolution/AFAR New Investigator Jonathan Gootenberg, PhD

On June 19th, 2024, Nature Biotechnology featured Tome Biosciences, co-founded by AFAR Grantee Jonathan Gootenberg, PhD, as an Editor’s Pick of companies that secured substantial early-stage funding the previous year.

Dr. Gootenberg started Tome Biosciences to focus on a new innovative approach in genome editing, specializing in precisely inserting large DNA sequences into the genome with minimal off-target effects. The company seeks to “write the final chapter in genome editing,” by using a method developed by co-founders Gootenberg and Abudayyeh.

Dr. Gootenberg is a 2023 Hevolution/AFAR New Investigator Awards in Aging Biology and Geroscience Research recipient.
