On March 24, 2021, the Annals of Neurology featured new research co-authored by AFAR grantee M. Brandon Westover, MD, PhD, which indicates that some hospitalized patients with COVID-19 experience non-convulsive seizures, putting them at a higher risk of long-term brain damage or death.
Dr. Westover is a 2018 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Breakthroughs in Gerontology (BIG) Award recipient, and an Associate Professor of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
