On September 14, 2021, The Philadelphia Inquirerfeatured insights from AFAR Senior Scientific Director Steven Austad, PhD, and AFAR grantee Nathan LeBrasseur, PhD, on the benefits of exercise at any age to promote healthy aging.
Dr. Austad is a distinguished professor and Chair of the Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as Co-Principle Investigator of the Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging Coordinating Center.
Dr. LeBrasseur is a 2002 Glenn/AFAR Scholarship for Research in the Biology of Aging recipient, and a 2019 Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research recipient. He is also a Consultant, Professor, and Co-Chair of Research in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic.
