Experts in the News: AFAR-managed Nathan Shock Coordinating Center as well as Nathan Shock Centers featured in special issue of GeroScience journal

Now available online, the October 2021 issue of the GeroScience included a special issue on the Nathan Shock Centers of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging. AFAR has served as the NIA-funded Nathan Shock Centers Coordinating Center since 2017.

The issue features AFAR Senior Scientific Director Steven N. Austad, PhD, who serves as the NSC Coordinating Center Co-Principal Investigator, along with AFAR Executive Director Stephanie Lederman.

The special issue highlights the expertise of each of the eight Nathan Shock Centers (NSCs) across the country.

An introductory article is written by Dr. Austad, Stephanie Lederman, multiple PIs of the Nathan Shock Centers Coordianting Center, as well as Candace Kerr, Program Officer at NIA, and AFAR Deputy Director and Director, Grant Programs Odette van der Willik.
