Board Member in the News: Nir Barzilai’s new book, "Age Later", out now

AFAR is proud to announce the publication of Age Later: Healthspan, Lifespan, and the New Science of Longevity by AFAR Scientific Director and multiple grantee Nir Barzilai, MD.

Drawing from his decades as a leading expert in the field and his research with SuperAgers, Dr. Barzilai discusses how aging research is working to delay and prevent the onset of all age-related diseases. He explores how targeting aging as a disease can help extend healthspan and lifespan to help us all live healthier, longer.

Dr. Barzilai outlines how geroscience can help treat the hallmarks of aging through a combination of lifestyle changes and medication, with a specific emphasis on the drug Metformin, which will be tested in the upcoming AFAR-funded Targeting Aging with Metformin (TAME) Trial.

Published by St. Martin's Press, Age Later also highlights a wide variety of AFAR experts, noting the ways AFAR-supported research has helped push the field of geroscience forward over the years. Learn more in a related press release here.
