Industry News: Beeson Scholars and COE Fellows Develop Content for e-Progonsis.org

Like any procedure in medicine, prognosis communication is a skill that can be taught and practiced.  Unfortunately, most clinicians receive no formal training in how to communicate prognosis.  Now there's a new set of teaching tools to help clinicians learn prognosis communication.  With a Beeson Scholars/Hartford Change AGEnts Action Award, a subgrant of the The Paul B. Board Member in the News: Steven Austad Comments on Caloric Restriction

On April 7, 2016, The Irish Times featured comments from Scientific Director Steven Austad, PhD on the scientific evidence in support of a relationship between increased lifespan and calorie restrictive diets. Proven to increase longevity in multiple animal models, caloric restriction has long been an interest for researchers investigating the biology of aging. Although calorie restriction has not been clinically tested in humans, evidence has found calorie restrictive diets, at the very least, lowers risk factors for cardiovascular disease, Austad notes.
