Grantees in the News: Deputy Scientific Director and former grantee Nir Barzilai on elder pharmacology

AFAR Deputy Scientific Director and former grantee Nir Barzilai, MD, published an article in The Scientist on January 1 detailing elder pharmacology, and the changes that need to be made in researchers’ and doctors’ approaches to studying and treating the chronic illnesses associated with aging. He writes, “The biology of a young body is substantially different from that of an old body. Not every treatment that works in the young will work or be safe in the elderly.” Read more here.
