On October 15, 2020, the National Academy of Medicine (NAM)announced the first round recipients of the inaugural Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award. This award is part of the multiyear, multimillion-dollar international Healthy Longevity Global Competition seeking breakthroughs to extend human health and function later in life.
AFAR provided scientific expertise and administrative support during this application cycle.
Nearly 600 applications were reviewed for the U.S.-based Catalyst award. A total of 21 recipients will receive $50,000 each to fund their research, including AFAR grantee Stephen Treaster, PhD. Dr. Treaster is a 2018 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in Aging Research recipient and Postdoctoral Fellow researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital.
