On March 11th, 2026, Nature published new research co-authored by AFAR Grantees Andrea Francesca Salvador, PhD, and Christoph Thaiss, PhD, on how age-related changes in the gut microbiome can impair memory by disrupting signaling along the vagus nerve.
Dr. Salvador is a 2024 Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Postdoctoral Fellowships in Aging Research recipient.
Dr. Thaiss is a 2023 McKnight Brain Research Foundation Innovator Awards in Cognitive Aging and Memory Lossrecipient.
