On November 9th, 2025, CBS News Sunday Morning featured multiple AFAR Grantee Randall Bateman, MD, in a piece spotlighting clinical trials focused on early intervention in treating and delaying Alzheimer's.
Dr. Bateman highlighted the importance of these trials that start before Alzheimer's symptoms are present, “If you look at the people who are treated in these trials, the people who are at the earlier stages, the earlier stage you go, the better off they do. Some of them actually have been stable. And so, what this suggests is that timing is critically important."
Dr. Bateman is a 1997 Glenn/AFAR Scholarships for Research in the Biology of Aging recipient, a 2007 Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging recipient, and a 2015 MetLife Foundation Awards for Medical Research in Alzheimer’s Disease recipient, a program that AFAR managed for several years.
