Originally published in Science journal on November 27, 2025, research on cartilage regeneration co-authored by AFAR Grantee Nidhi Bhutani, PhD, continues to garner media attention.

Senior author on the article, Dr. Bhutani, shares more insights in a Stanford Medicine News article: “Until now, there has been no drug that directly treats the cause of cartilage loss. But this gerozyme inhibitor causes a dramatic regeneration of cartilage beyond that reported in response to any other drug or intervention.”
