AFAR Board Member in the News: Terrie Fox Wetle, PhD, received Brown University’s coveted Susan Colver Rosenberger Medal of Honor

On Sunday, May 25th, 2025, AFAR Board Member Terrie Fox Wetle, PhD, received Brown University’s coveted Susan Colver Rosenberger Medal of Honor in recognition of her decades of leadership, scholarship, and mentorship. The award was presented during Brown’s 257th Commencement ceremony.

The medal is the highest honor the Brown University faculty can bestow, having been awarded only 36 times since it was established in 1919. At Brown University, Dr. Wetle is professor emerita of health services, policy, and practice. She was also the inaugural Dean of the School of Public Health at Brown University, serving from 2013-2017.

Dr. Wetle is a former president of AFAR's board and a current board member, and a 2014 Irving S. Wright Award recipient. AFAR established the Terrie Fox Wetle Rising Star Award in Health Services and Aging Research in her honor. Learn more about AFAR's Wetle Award and recent recipients here.
