AFAR ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER

AFAR will host the 2013 Annual Awards Dinner on October 29 at the California Club in Los Angeles . The dinner will celebrate the outstanding contributions of leaders in science, business, and philanthropy to the field of aging on the West Coast.

The event will begin with a Panel Discussion at 5:00 pm, during which leaders in the field of aging research will discuss promising research on causes, treatments, and cures for age-related conditions. Cocktails and dinner will follow at 7pm.

ANNUAL GRANTEE CONFERENCE
Expertise Shared in Santa Barbara

The 26th annual AFAR Grantee Conference—renamed the Paul F. Glenn Symposium on the Biology of Aging—took place June 3-5 at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara, California. The conference’s new name honors Paul Glenn, founder of the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research, and his dedication and contributions to aging research. Forty-two current and former AFAR grantees, along with foundation staff and experts in aging research, attended the conference. Read about all of AFAR’s spring conferences here.
2013 GRANTEES ANNOUNCED
 
More than 200 medical students, geriatrics fellows, postdoctoral fellows, and early- and mid-career investigators were selected as AFAR’s 2013 grantees in aging research.

Protein & Aging Working Group
On Friday, August 2, AFAR gathered experts from across the academic, corporate, and nonprofit sectors at the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) in Washington, DC to participate in our ongoing working group on optimal protein intake for older adults.
