Discussing Money and Health
On May 30, AFAR co-hosted with Peapack-Gladstone Bank a special event at the Fellowship Senior Living Center. Shira Goldberg, MD, Board Certified Geriatrician at Monmouth Medical Center, presented on "Mind and Body: Secrets to Successfull Aging" and bank representatives shared tax and estate planning updates. Exploring the Myth of "Senility"
On July 16, AFAR hosted a private reception for trust and estate attorneys at the Lotos Club featuring a special presentation exploring myths about dementia by AFAR board member Norman Relkin, MD, PhD, of the Memory Disorders Program at Weill Cornell Medical College. 20 Years of MSTAR
On September 9, AFAR celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program with a special reception at the home of Norman Volk, Chairman of the John A. Hartford Foundation, and his wife Alicia Volk. This intimate event honored key supporter, Kathryn D. Wriston, retiring President of the John A. Hartford Foundation. GSA 2014
Attending the upcoming GSA Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington DC? Please join AFAR on Friday, November 7 at 5:30 pm for our Scientific Awards ceremony and lectures. We will honor Rafael de Cabo, PhD, with the Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research, and Dr. de Cabo will present the lecture "Calorie Restriction: Where Are We Now?”. AFAR will also present the Irving S. Wright Award of Distinction to Terrie Fox Wetle, PhD, who will share the lecture, “Translating Research to Improve Health of Aging Populations." Learn more here.
