Redirecting neurogenesis in the aged using atRA pulsed exosomes derived from educated-hMSCs

Chronic Inflammation is a hallmark of age-related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The objective of Dr. Markoutsa’s study is to develop a novel exosome, with enhanced anti-inflammatory properties, able to fight multiple targets of AD pathology. She will prime stem cells in different AD-related environments and induce them to release exosomes with improved anti-inflammatory properties.
If successful, this could stop the existing inflammation but also restore damaged tissue by promoting neurogenesis as a way to cure the disease.
