The American Federation for Aging Research is pleased to present the free webinar, "Science and Community: Introducing the SuperAgers Initiative."
Moderated by Kaiser Health News reporter and aging research advocate Judith Graham, this 1-hour, virtual event will describe a new innovative, national program to establish a community focused on both celebrating and studying exceptional longevity.
The multi-year SuperAgers Initiative hopes to recruit 10,000 SuperAgers — people 95+ — and their family members, the largest cohort ever gathered. This community will also have an opportunity to participate in scientific studies designed to understand the biological and genetic underpinnings of exceptional longevity.
Longer term, the Initiative hopes to help develop and fast-track new therapies that target the aging processes and potentially address multiple age-related diseases and conditions at the same time.
Webinar participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn details about the purpose, research, and science driving the SuperAgers Initiative and the potential to engage with the vital SuperAgers Community,
- Receive a brief overview of the scientific underpinnings supporting extended lifespans and the possibilities ahead, and
- “Meet” a living SuperAger to learn how the impacts of family and community are part of the “secrets” of healthy longevity.
