How old do you really feel? You could be younger than your years. Aging researchers are digging into biological age—how the body is advancing, regardless of the number of years it’s been around.

The differences between biological aging and chronological aging inspire a range of questions that are reframing our approach to healthy aging: Why exactly is biological age? How is it measured? What about home-tests that are entering the market? Is it ever too late to change how your body is aging? And how does biological age reframe just how "old" is old?

In a conversation-style webinar, Prevention’s Editor Kaitlyn Phoenix will be joined by AFAR Senior Scientific Director Steven N. Austad, PhD, to discuss why scientists are so interested in biological age and how this can impact your healthspan as you grow older.

A globally recognized leader in aging research, Steven N. Austad, PhD, is the Protective Life Endowed Chair in Healthy Aging Research, a Distinguished Professor, and Chair of the Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is also founding director of UAB’s Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging and co-director of the UAB Integrative Center for Aging Research. He also serves as co-principal investigator of the National Institute on Aging’s Nathan Shock Centers Coordinating Center. His is the author of Methuselah's Zoo: What Nature Can Teach Us About Living Healthier, Longer Lives (2022) and Why We Age (1997, 1999), which has been translated into eight languages.
