Prevention Webinar Walking April2022 Social Art50

Walking is one of the best ways to improve your physical and mental health at any age—but what exactly makes it so effective? And how can you make the most of every step you take?

In a conversation-style webinar, Prevention’s Editor in Chief Sarah Smith will be joined by healthy aging expert Catherine A. Sarkisian, MD, MSHS, of UCLA, to discuss the biological science behind walking’s many benefits—as well as the social science of exercise motivation.

Throughout her research career, Dr. Sarkisian has studied walking and older adults with a special focus on increasing physical activity and preventing disability among underserved older adults and designing community-based research collaborations.

Dr. Sarkisian is the Director of the Community Liaison Core of the National Institute on Aging’s UCLA Resource Center for Minority Aging Research/Center for Healthcare Improvement of Minority Elders (RCMAR/CHIME). She is a Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research and Director of the UCLA Value-Based Care Research Consortium.
